On The Gustav Mahler Trail

Attersee Gustav Mahler Trail IMG_5972.jpg

There are trails for everything. Nothing fascinates more (it seems) than to be hot in the footsteps of this or that.  But this summer trail idea was so deliciously simple: enjoy Mahler in the environment where Mahler's works were created, on Lake Attersee.  Mahler was inspired by the ever-changing,  ever-enchanting lake views. He composed in his composer's gazebo (now a museum and worth the pilgrimage)  two of classical music's greatest symphonies.   Movement for movement the listener walked from spot to spot.

Worth comparing: Mahler by the best conductors
